Chino Police Department

Have you ever wondered...

...why do police officers block a whole lane of traffic when they make a traffic stop?

...why do we need a S.W.A.T. Team and what do they do?

...how do you dust for fingerprints?

If you would like answers to these questions or others like them, then the Citizen Academy may be for you!

The Citizen Police Academy was established to promote an understanding of the Chino Police Department and its policies and procedures.  In addition, the Academy provides training in all aspects of law enforcement and the issues that face police officers on a daily basis.  The Academy goal is to also foster a spirit of cooperation between the city, its citizens and their Police Department.

The Citizen Academy is an eleven-week program held once per year. It meets one evening a week from 6:00pm - 9:00pm. Participant requirements are:

  • 18 years of age or older
