
"Partners with our Police Department in providing excellent service to our Community"
The Community Support Team is a volunteer program made up of individuals who are dedicated to serving the Chino Police department and the Chino Community. They provide a variety of services including: traffic control, vacation house checks, business checks, clerical tasks, data entry, child fingerprinting and many more.
In order to become a member of the Community Support Team you must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Complete the Chino Police Department's Citizen Academy
- Pass a background investigation
- Be of good moral character
Once individuals have met the above listed qualifications they will be required to attend a 5-week training program. The program meets one night per week from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Some of the topics to be covered are:
- Program Philosophy
- Ethics
- Radio Codes
- City Geography
- Pepper Spray Training
- California Law Enforcement Telecommunications Certification
Team Members are required to:
- Successfully complete the 5-week training program
- Volunteer a minimum of 4 hours per month
- Maintain the approved uniform
- Attend monthly meetings and periodic training sessions
