Chino Police Department

"Partners with our Police Department in providing excellent service to our Community"

The Community Support Team is a volunteer program made up of individuals who are dedicated to serving the Chino Police department and the Chino Community.  They provide a variety of services including: traffic control, vacation house checks, business checks, clerical tasks, data entry, child fingerprinting and many more.

In order to become a member of the Community Support Team you must:

  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • Complete the Chino Police Department's Citizen Academy
  • Pass a background investigation
  • Be of good moral character

Once individuals have met the above listed qualifications they will be required to attend a 5-week training program.  The program meets one night per week from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  Some of the topics to be covered are:

  • Program Philosophy
  • Ethics
  • Radio Codes
  • City Geography
  • Pepper Spray Training
  • California Law Enforcement Telecommunications Certification

Team Members are required to:

  • Successfully complete the 5-week training program
  • Volunteer a minimum of 4 hours per month
  • Maintain the approved uniform
  • Attend monthly meetings and periodic training sessions
